Bern draws upon her musical connections with some of the industry’s most talented artists to achieve the lofty goals she has for Praise!  In its inaugural season Theo Peoples, Mavis Staples, Kirk Whalum, and Lenny Williams have appeared as guest vocalists. Michael Powers and Roger Fisher, guitar player of the rock band Heart, have both been guests on the show also.  How has she managed to get some of music’s most high profile acts to contribute?  “I just approach them by saying ‘look, we’ve all been out here doing what we do, and we’ve all been successful.  It’s time to give thanks for our success."

Industry response to Bernadette’s simple-but-profound message has been overwhelming.  Kevin Thornton, formerly a member of 1990s pop group Color Me Badd (of Sexx U Up fame), heard about Praise! and his producers approached Bern with a desire to make a guest appearance.  Producer, Derek Hoeim also made the generous contribution of 200 free hours of recording time in his studio, opening the door to the next phase of Praise! An album inspired by the show’s message of ecumenical PRAISE! will feature avant garde and inspirational material written by Ms. Bascom and some of her highly talented friends.  The goal for next year is to cut back on the performing schedule to complete the album.  “It’s important that we spread the message to as many people as possible.  This album is designed to ‘get young people to get God.’”
